Столкнулся тут только что:
/usr/bin/less cdr_addon_mysql.so
/usr/share/less/lesspipe.sh: line 87: /usr/bin/readelf: No such file or directory

Может быть и есть какая-то опция у less, чтобы посмотреть файл безо всяких
вспомогательных утилит. Сходу не нашел. Может стоит зависимость на binutils
прописать? Утилиты оттуда нужны и mc, кстати, но это уже повод для другого бага :)

Нет, binutils -- это слишком.
А опция у less называется -L.
