При установленном weston появляется сессия "Weston". Однако, она неработоспособна.
Сам weston запускается из под консольной сессии.
У пользователя в файле ~/.xsession-errors пишется такое:
> Xsession: $DISPLAY undefined.
> TERM environment variable not set.

Сам lightdm поддерживает запуск wayland-сессий с версии 0.15.6

По-моему, уже работает.
