Взамен удалённого syslog поставил syslog-ng и пытаюсь запустить:

 # service syslog-ng start
Checking syslog-ng configuration:                                                                                                                               [ DONE ]
Starting syslog-ng service: [2020-09-25T23:03:36.742817] Error checking the uniqueness of the persist names, please override it with persist-name option. Shutting down.; persist_name='affile_sd_curpos(/proc/kmsg)', location='source generator system:10:1'


Система на sysvinit.

Старое ядро? Надо сделать

cp /usr/share/doc/syslog-ng-3.28.1/conf.d.example/00-redefine-source-sys.conf /
/etc/syslog-ng/conf.d/

Лишний "/" написался в cp.
