Result: the other computer is not known to the second one by its given hostname (i.e., it can't be resolved, e.g., "ping vaio.home" or "resolve vaio.home" fails on dell.home). Expected result: they see each other by these names. I should have rtfmed better: the domain name for zeroconf is .local. In order for this to work, nss-mdns should be set up.
