<thetext>This problem is present in 2.6.30-std-def-alt15 in branch 5.1.

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #21990 +++

The problem remains after upgrading to 2.6.30-std-def-alt14 from Sisyphus.

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #21195 +++

system-report

(Desktop 4.1)

The sound is very quiet even when the volume setting is maximal on HDA Intel (Realtek) soundacrd (in a Sony Vaio). This true for both the embedded loudspeaker and for external loudspeakers plugged into the headphones jack.

But after rebooting from Windows the sound is satisfactorily loud (and also in Windows the sound is OK). After turning the power of the computer off the sound is again very quiet.

> а в alsamixerе точно все ручки по максимуму стоят?

Да точно. Раз у меня эта проблема уже пару лет, я все переключатели исследовал.</thetext>

> Workaround: use kernel-image-un-def-2.6.32-alt5 . The sound from the speakers
> is loud!

But that kernel has the problem: https://bugzilla.altlinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23788 (recording impossible).</thetext>

<thetext>Another option in the 5.1 branch is
kernel-modules-alsa-el-smp-2.6.32-alt10 , but there is no working sound at all
with that kernel --
https://bugzilla.altlinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25001 ; so,
el-smp-2.6.32-alt10 is not a workaround for this problem in the 5.1
branch.</thetext>

    <thetext>This problem went away in
kernel-modules-alsa-std-def-2.6.32-alt20.M50P.1 (the sound is loud).

(But that kernel has the other problem with recording --
https://bugzilla.altlinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25005 .)</thetext>
