Without tumblerd running, Thunar won't show thumbs. Thunar doesn't run tumblerd automatically now; when I run tumblerd manually, all is OK. 119106 1 alecs 2011-03-09 16:13:58 +0300 tumblerd shoud be installed into %_libdir (/usr/lib64 or /usr/lib not /usr/libexec). This is an additional functionality and not all people wants to have it. I made new virtual package xfce4-default which will install tumbler and other packages needed for Xfce.
