    <thetext>hello  i try to run  regular-xfce-latest-x86_64 from live cd   in hp dv6 laptop  but when,at startup , i choose boot from usb , the grub loader hangs  , with this message (grub loading ..) and hangs there,  .....not appear any menu  ...</thetext>

no no before install , ... run pc choose from bios the usb  ...and normally must appear the first picture  with options installation ,live cd ,and other .... this picture not appear in regular-xfce-latest-x86_64  , i hope to understand , and sorry for my English</thetext>

so the problem is that syslinux was removed from the starter, ie with grub it does not work ???</thetext>

How did you record the image on a USB flash drive? Try altmediawriter or dd.
Do not load the USB flash drive in the mode of saving the session on other devices. I&apos;ve read about similar issues in Ubuntu on older hp devices. These devices require a boot flag in the MBR.
But, perhaps, this is a problem of even more ancient hp devices.</thetext>

all linux ISOs register them with  dd   command and they work ... dd if=/path/to/image.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=1M oflag=direct status=progress; sync</thetext>

unfortunately it doesn&apos;t work from usb ... my stick is this

We need to see if grub will boot into Ubuntu. There is no need to bootload further :-)</thetext>

I will tell you step by step the procedure I follow, in case I make a mistake somewhere ...and I&apos;m not doing right what you&apos;re saying to me .
