В аттаче Assistant от 4.5.0 (вверху) и 3. В софте, запущенном ещё когда в системе был 4.4.3, субпиксель есть. В новом, с 4.5.0 - уже нет.

С включенным /etc/fonts/conf.avail/*-lcdfilter-*.conf тоже?

Забыл сразу отписаться.
Помогло добавление в .Xresources
Xft.hinting: true
Xft.hintstyle: hintfull
Xft.antialias: true
Xft.rgba: rgb
На другой, более чистой, системе сразу нормально было.

Просто local misconfiguration всё-таки, видимо.
