Настройки iptables по умолчанию таковы, что не работает ssh и ping.

С ssh можно было бы смириться, а вот не работающий ping - это плохо. ping <IP> - это самый простой способ узнать, поднялся ли удалённый хост или нет.

Думаю, что открыть по умолчанию ICMP было бы здравой идеей. С ssh - вопрос более сложный.

alterator-net-iptables-2.9-alt1, сборка server от сегодняшнего числа, ICMP закрыто по умолчанию.

Может, на уровне дистрибутива происходит начальная настройка altertator-net-iptables? Тогда default и не применяется, если конфигурация уже есть...

Имеется в виду файл /etc/alterator/net-iptables.conf
