На alt server не запускается служба posgresql, установил пакеты: 
postgresql9.1, postgresql9.1-server, postgresql9.1-contrib. 
Создал системные базы: /etc/init.d/postgresql initdb
Далее запускаю службу: systemctl start postgresql

ВАЖНО:  файл блокировки "postmaster.pid" уже существует
ПОДСКАЗКА:  Другой экземпляр postmaster (PID 1348) работает с каталогом данных "/var/lib/pgsql/data"?
ОТЛАДКА:  shmem_exit(1): 0 callbacks to make
ОТЛАДКА:  proc_exit(1): 0 callbacks to make
ОТЛАДКА:  exit(1)

После чего time out.
