Со слов Александра Певзнера, hplip теперь носит с собой blacklist'илку ipp-usb, а со слов другого комментатора -- в дистрибутивах /usr/share/ipp-usb/quirks/HPLIP.conf, похоже, из пакета hplip выкидывают:

I guess every distro removes that config file (I do it at least during packaging and I didn't find it in Ubuntu either, but I didn't look too deep), so that's the best we can do. I would not recommend whitelisting a blacklist in upstream code (if it wasn't sarcasm :) ).

Возможно, стоит и нам обратить внимание, но обязательно надо проверять экспериментально.

А "другой комментатор" - это Zdenek Dohnal, парень, который во всем РедХате (Fedora/RHEL/CentOS) в одни руки мейнтейнит всё, что про принтеры и сканеры :)

Он умный и хороший.
