В ldap иммеется группа, содержащая более 70-и member-ов, назовём её users.
getent group users не выдаёт результата. на более мелких группах всё ok.

Более того, если делать запросы типа
id user1
groups user1
будут показаны группы, за исключением users (user1 в неё входит).

На простом nss_ldap работает.
