Description Ivan Zakharyaschev 2009-10-20 14:58:54 MSD
epiphany-2.26.3-alt2

When doing "ssh -X" or "ssh -X -Y" from an ALT Desktop 4.1 system (in the example below: linux.local) to a system with epiphany-2.26.3-alt2 (dell.local), epiphany doesn't start showing the graphical message:

"Could not start GNOME Web Browser

Startup failed because of the following error:
dbus-launch failed to autolaunch D-Bus session: Option `--close-stderr' is unknown."

At the same time, when started in a local X session, epiphany works on that system (dell.local).

Here is what happens in the terminal:

$ ssh dell.local
Last login: Tue Oct 20 13:54:07 2009 from linux.local
[ivan@dell ~]$ epiphany

** (epiphany:8276): WARNING **: Unable to connect to session bus: dbus-launch failed to autolaunch D-Bus session: Option `--close-stderr' is unknown.

Not being able to use epiphany remotely appears to me to be a serious defect.

The same was true for epiphany-2.26.3-alt1.

Workaround: use another browser remotely, e.g., seamonkey-1.1.18-alt1.
Comment 2 Michael Shigorin 2012-06-22 21:39:24 MSK
It told me when used over ssh -Y (note that -X inflicts restrictions):

** (epiphany:16816): WARNING **: Could not find a suitable GRE!

(the very same version-release)
Comment 3 Michael Shigorin 2012-06-22 21:58:47 MSK
epiphany-2.30.6-alt2 (t6/p6) does work for me when run over ssh -Y.
Comment 4 Yuri N. Sedunov 2012-06-22 22:01:44 MSK
В сизифе 3.4.2 работает, в p6 - 2.30.6 тоже.
