The info page says install has --target-dircetory option, but  install doesn\'t accept it as valid.

I have no answer from coreutils maintainers on this subject so far.
So it\'s probably a documentation typo.

I hope it\'s not a typo. I think the intention to have --target-dierctory option in coreutils where possible is very good; it makes using coreutils with xargs simpler.

Finally I\'ve got written confirmation from one of coreutils maintainers (Jim Meyering):

I planned to do it when I implemented it for those other
commands, but never got around to it, then forgot :-)
