Now, we can see the special letters used in the dictionary (e.g. those with accents: e with accent acute)
as HTML entity names. Words containing such letters are not readble in this form. I\'d like to see them represented by a single glyph, as a single character of an appropriate encoding.

It's an upstream/utility issue, sorry.  Maybe someone would look at e.g.
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/d/dict-gcide/dict-gcide_0.48-4.diff.gz to
find out whether they do any substitutions like that...

Я хочу сказать, что в нашем клиенте dict, который лежит в Сизифе, используется 
libnatspec и символы, которые не могут быть отображены в текущей кодировке 
консоли, транслитерируются.

Может, умляуты в случае latin1 "обрезать" до ascii-эквивалентов?  Табличку могу
выдрать из TYPO3, там была.

$ dict -d web1913 debauch | fgrep 'Cf. F'

Вот это é бы "сбросить" в "e", деакцентировать.  Если хочешь, посмотри
http://www.thesauruslex.com/typo/eng/enghtml.htm -- é есть "e" с "/"
сверху (не помню, как по-умному называется).
