Description Ivan Zakharyaschev 2008-12-06 05:18:55 MSK
apt-conf-sisyphus-5.0-alt2

In /etc/apt/sources.list.d/alt.list, there are only 2 parts of the "distribution":

$ fgrep ftp: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/alt.list
#rpm [alt] ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus i586 classic
#rpm [alt] ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus noarch classic

but I used to use more:

$ fgrep ftp: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sisyphus.alt.list
rpm [alt] ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus/ i386 classic
rpm [alt] ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus/ i586 classic
rpm [alt] ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus/ i686 classic
rpm [alt] ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus/ noarch classic
#rpm-src [alt] ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus/ i586 classic

Note that I also used to have:
* the i686 part (ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus/i686/RPMS.classic/ does actually contain some useful packages),
* the i386 part (now, ftp://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/Sisyphus/i386/RPMS.classic/ is empty, but it used t contain some closed-source stuff)
* an the src part.

I suggest to ship the default configuration with those additional items: i686 is useful for those with >i586 processors, and having the URL for src is also a useful (otherwise it must be invented by a developer, and it's not obvious).

(An old suggestion about this that had been satisfied: https://bugzilla.altlinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1068 .)

It's not how things are by now.
