When printing an image on HP LJ 1010 with the hpcups driver, an error occured -- the printer printed (on paper): PCL XL error Error: InsufficientMemory Operator: 0x46 Position: 55 Another time: PCL XL error Subsystem: IP Error: InsufficientMemory Operator: 0x46 Position: 58 There was no error when printig other stuff, for example, a random page from Wikipedia. After switching to the hpijs driver, there are no errors. $ rpm -qf /usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1010-hpijs.ppd.gz /usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-laserjet_1010.ppd.gz hplip-hpijs-PPDs-3.11.10-alt1.M60P.1 hplip-hpcups-PPDs-3.11.10-alt1.M60P.1 $ rpm -qa '*cups*' ghostscript-cups-9.04-alt2 python-module-cupshelpers-1.3.7-alt1 libcups-1.5.0-alt5.M60P.1 hplip-hpcups-PPDs-3.11.10-alt1.M60P.1 hplip-hpcups-3.11.10-alt1.M60P.1 python-module-cups-1.9.55-alt1 cups-pdf-2.5.1-alt4 cups-1.5.0-alt5.M60P.1 $

The same error happens with the "hpcups" driver from 3.12.10a-alt0.M60P.1: $ rpm -qa '*hpcups*' hplip-hpcups-PPDs-3.12.10a-alt0.M60P.1 hplip-hpcups-3.12.10a-alt0.M60P.1 $ I'll check now whether the "hpijs" driver from the new release still works fine...
(В ответ на комментарий №2) > I'll check now whether the "hpijs" driver from the new release still works > fine... Yes, it does still work fine. $ rpm -qa '*hpijs*' hplip-hpijs-3.12.10a-alt0.M60P.1 hplip-hpijs-PPDs-3.12.10a-alt0.M60P.1 $ (I'll check now whether updating the cups package makes any difference.) Updating the cups package doesn't change the situation: $ rpm -qa '*cups*' hplip-hpcups-PPDs-3.12.10a-alt0.M60P.1 ghostscript-cups-9.04-alt2 python-module-cupshelpers-1.3.7-alt1 hplip-hpcups-3.12.10a-alt0.M60P.1 libcups-1.5.3-alt0.M60P.2 cups-1.5.3-alt0.M60P.2 python-module-cups-1.9.55-alt1 cups-pdf-2.5.1-alt4 $
There is also a problem with this image and the "hpcups" driver for HP LJ 1010 in Ubuntu -- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1112773 . (Although the result looks differently in Ubuntu: not an error report printed by the printer, but rather a small stripe at the top.)
Here is how such an error caused by the driver was solved: http://www.administrator.de/forum/pcl-xl-error-mit-laserjet-5000-56994.html#comment-229242 http://www.administrator.de/PCL_XL_error_-Was_soll_das_heissen%3F.html#comment-51270 (changing the language to "PCL 5e)
Where should we switch to PCL 5e? Only for HP LJ 1010 (hpcups)?
(В ответ на комментарий №6) > Where should we switch to PCL 5e? Only for HP LJ 1010 (hpcups)? I can test if this will fix printing on HP LJ 1010 with hpcups... According to that posting -- http://www.administrator.de/forum/pcl-xl-error-mit-laserjet-5000-56994.html#comment-229242 -- it will also fix the problem for LJ 5000...
