Fonts in system.fvwm2rc are specified this way:

MenuStyle * Font  xft:Nimbus Sans L:pixelsize=14

This should be changed to:

MenuStyle * Font  \&quot;xft:Nimbus Sans L:pixelsize=14\&quot;

because font names contain whitespaces

И действительно (в результате автоматической замены шрифтов это не приводит к
немедленной неработоспособности, поэтому и осталось до сих пор).

Исправлено в fvwm-2.5.10-alt3.
