When using non-UTF locale with X11, aumix may produce UTF diagnostics.
Sure it's not aumix, but GTK2 bug, but cannot trace it out correctly.
Please dig into it and re-assign it
Steps to Reproduce:
1. (root) chown 0 /dev/mixer
2. (non-root) LC_ALL=ru_RU.KOI8-R aumix
aumix:  п╬яп╦п╠п╨п╟ п╬яп╨яяяп╦я п╪п╦п╨яп╣яп╟
3. (non-root) LC_ALL=ru_RU.KOI8-R DISPLAY= aumix
aumix:  ошибка открытия микшера

Actual Results:  
aumix:  п╬яп╦п╠п╨п╟ п╬яп╨яяяп╦я п╪п╦п╨яп╣яп╟

Expected Results:  
aumix:  ошибка открытия микшера
