Для использования suspend2 с ядром, которму нужен initrd, этот initrd должен 
содержать запуск процесса просыпания:

 echo > /sys/power/suspend2/do_resume

По аналогии с swsusp предлагается патч для поддержки этого.

Патч приложен в mkinitrd 2.9.10-alt1.
