Kirghiz console layout

Patch done for current git kbd tree.
Comment 1 Alexey Gladkov 2009-04-15 10:39:02 MSD
Why you removed the kyrgyz.map ?
Comment 2 Ilyas 2009-04-15 16:10:10 MSD
I couldn't contact the author to share our work and create one version for Kirghiz.

Mine is UTF-8 and I think Kirghiz locale does not need any CP1251 one, because ky locale is UTF-8. MandrivaLinux distro uses ky.map(ky.uni.kmap) with koi8-k console font which correctly show letters.

I can create another patch which won't delete existing kyrgyz.map, if needed

I have to take care about legacy. Any deletions are very painful.
So, please change your patch.

Thanks for commit, but really wonder why you assigned ISO 639 name which is kir? Almost all modern *unix distros uses short ISO 639-1 codes like ky, tr and ru. In git tree as you see there is no any rus*, tur* and etc.

Please, could you use ky instead of kir? Does alternative group switch keys mandatory in file names? All keymaps have description for switching to alt group.

This is a new standard.

I can rename it to ky_*. This is not a problem.

Ok.

This is necessary in case you have more keymap files for same language. Look at ruwin_* files. Without group switchers in file name, you must invent stupid idiotic names for file names (ru1, ru2, ru3, ...). This gives me a lot of problems and now I try to give a unique file names.

Yes, ky will is more convenient and can we rename it like ky.uni.map? (as uni stands for unicode, or just ky.map). I understand that for Russian there are much more variants, but this is mainly the result of available encodings for Russian language and alt group switchers. My idea is to create one unique standard keyboard layout with right encoding for Kirghiz.

Ок. I will rename the keymap.

I do not like this name.

Everyone who sent me the keymap, told me that their keymap is standard. :)

Ok, but I don't see any changes. Can we rename it like ky.map? It is short and clear
