При апдейте FirebirdSS-1.0.0.796-alt1 (Master 2.0) до FirebirdSS-1.0.2.914-alt1cvs021225 (Master 2.2) пропал /etc/rc.d/init.d/firebird. После принудительной переустановки пакета - нормально создался вновь.
