Предлагается не запускать по умолчанию lvmetad(8), т.к.:

  By default, lvmetad, even if running, is not used by LVM. See lvm.conf(5).

по мотивам обсуждения в рассылке, отправил в сизиф lvm2, у которого, наоборот, включен lvmetad по-умолчанию.
