/usr/bin/postgresql-dump содержит:

mt -f ${target} rewind

Может, лучше заменить на "обертку" вида

MT=/bin/mt
# ...
[ ! -x "$MT" ] || "$MT" -f ${target} rewind

для смягчения зависимости?

Кстати, perl-DBI тоже как-то интересно нужен.
