On this computer with LVM:

kernel-image-std-def-5.4.28-alt1.x86_64 boots (installed today),
kernel-image-un-def-5.7.19-alt1.x86_64 doesn't boot (installed today),
kernel-image-std-def-5.4.68-alt1.1.x86_64 boots,
kernel-image-std-def-5.4.54-alt1.x86_64 boots.

The tools used to install the first two kernels in this list were the same (both were installed today one after another).

The boot doesn't go further after "Started LVM activation on device".
