Если попытаться собрать gstreamer проект с установленным пакетом
gstrramer-devel, но без пакета libxml2-devel, то pkg-config показывает следующее:
pkg-config --cflags --libs gstreamer-0.8
Package libxml-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libxml-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'libxml-2.0', required by 'GStreamer', not found
такую реакцию pkg-config`а конфигурационный скрипт воспринимает как отсутсвующие
gstreamer библиотеки и выдаёт соответствующее сообщение, из которого невозможно
понять что необходимо поставить libxml2-devel.

gstreamer 0.8 выводится из обращения.
