При попытке запустить сервлет от Oracle - окно firefox закрывается:
 $ firefox

No fonts were found in
'/usr/lib/j2se1.4-sun/jre/lib/fonts:/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1:/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType:/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/tt:/usr/share/fonts/ja/TrueType'.

INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not read ack from child process
System error?:: Resource temporarily unavailable

Пакет fonts-ttf-j2se-sun   - установлен, но шрифты находятся в другом месте.

firefox не ищет шрифтов. Проблема в сервлете.

Вы правы.
Установил plugin для java 1.5 - и заработало.
