After a successful invocation of update-menus I got the following .desktop
entries in ~/.local/share/applications-alt/:

Notice that actually it's a _two_ desktop entries combined in one. As result
kate now can be found not in Applications -> Editors but in Applications -> Text
Utils

kate came from kdebase-wm-3.4.1-alt10. The same situation is for kwrite and
kedit (the latter put into _both_ Applications->Editors and Applications->Text Utils

Иначе в kde-3.5 их было бы _three_ ;-)
